I can't find serial in the relevant text area to activate the game, anyone :)

Is it on the back of the little information booklet that you get inside of the case, usually with The Sims I just find it on the back of the booklet on the top.

But when someone download a game like me and when someone whose living in the poor country want to play a game he tries everything he can find, maybe you didn't though about it that way but you should before you judge... :)
