Live in MS, worked in LA, which state taxes do I pay?
I live in the state of Mississippi, but travel to work in Louisiana. Am I required to pay taxes in Louisiana?

    Yes, you are.

Virtually every state in the Union that has a state income tax assesses that tax on ALL income earned within the state borders.

Further, Mississippi assesses its income tax on all world-wide income earned by its residents. To prevent double taxation, Mississippi will give you a credit for the taxes paid to Louisiana.

If you do not know how to apply for that credit, use a local, competent tax professional when it comes time to file your tax returns.

Income earned while in Louisiana must be reported to Louisiana.
You must also report your worldwide income to Mississippi. On this return you will also claim credit for taxes paid to Louisiana.
