I'm going to install a water softerner however the main line come in to the front of the house I want install the water solterner in the back of the house.

My queation, is would it affect the pressure of the water if I run the lines to the back of the house to connect the water solfterner we are looking about 55 ft of lines going to the back ?

The ine that comes in is 3/4 copper, also do I need to use the same 3/4 copper line?

Yes, keep the 3/4" copper for volume.

The firefighter in me says you'll lose some pressure with each fitting you put in the line and there is friction loss of the water in the pipe itself. How's your pressure now? You'll lose some pressure through the softener anyways.

Are you running the lines from the front of the house to the softener and then back to tie them in? Or, are you going to splice into the existing cold water system nearer the softener installation. In many installations you'll find 3/4" line servicing the major demands then stepped down to 1/2" for faucets/toilets. Make sure you tie in to the 3/4."

If you do a lot of irrigation you may want to put the outside faucets on a line that bypasses the softener.

Put in a 3-way bypass. Don't rely on the softeners plastic valve.
