I am looking for a hair product that will straighten my hair.. I cannot afford to have it personally done and I would like to get some controal to my horrid hair.. I have extremely wavy, frizzy hair that at the same time is fragile and breaks easy... I was wondering what products some of you have used and the results that came with it.. *my hair isvery hard to straighten*

Have you ever tried a straightening iron? They are probably a good bit less harsh on your hair that any sort of chemical relaxer; and though not cheap, it would probably pay for itself within a couple of saved trips to a salon.

Do u brush your frizzy hair?

I had wavy frizzy hair, then I decided not to brush it. I brush it once I contioned it then I rinse it and I don't brush it anymore and after I apply frizz ease and I'm left with lovely curly hair.

Just an idea :)

I brush it all the time.. it gets full of knots if I don't... I think I might try that out though krs.. you say you do brush it once so it might not be that bad..

Flat irons as Thomas1970 suggests, are something to stick with if you are willing to take some time on your hair (I swear by mine). There are plenty of products to use on your hair to control frizziness and breakage.

First, you should get a trim (or a cut, if you can or want to) just to cut down on styling time, no need to take time on hair that is damaged as it will only affect the overall health of the rest of your locks. I use the Garnier products for washing and styling my hair, Frizz Ease has great products also; and here's a secret. Try to find the sample sizes of quality styling products, you will save a lot of money.

The weather isn't nice to hair either, so for the winter time see if you can find products that can give your hair plenty of moisture.

Wat I do is :-
I wash my hair twice, then after I wash it, I let it drip dry, then I squeeze the access water off. Then I get loads and loads of conditioner on it scrub it through and through and while I'm doing that with my hands I brush my hair, until I feel there are no knots at all.
I leave in conditioner for about 10mins. Then I throuoghly rinse off.

Then I squeeze off water
Then don't rub towel on your hair, but dab the towel on your hair, let it dry alone, then add oil..

My trick is.. when I see it could be getting a little bit frizzy I wet my hands and dab water on my hair :)

Binx44, sorry for taking a while to answer your question, I've been busy the past few days. In salons, they use a round brush and blow-dryer on damp hair to achieve the straight look, which is known as a blow out. Alternatively, start by shampooing and conditioning your hair, and towel dry your hair to remove the excess water. Next, put a few drops of serum or straightening balm in the palm of your hand, rub hands together, then apply it evenly throughout your hair. After that, you will need to use a blow-dryer and round brush to straighten your hair. Section your hair in 3 sections, then use a round brush at roots and gently pull the brush all to the ends while blow dryer it. Repeat each sections until the hair is straighten. After you've straightened your hair, apply a little bit of serum, it will make the hair shiny and smooth.

If you want to your hair to look super straight, you can finish the look with a flat iron. Once hair is completely dry, draw thin sections of hair through flat iron beginning with the roots and slowly glide it through the ends. These alternative methods will lasts until you shampoo your hair.

There are chemical relaxers at the market... one name Botanical No Lye Sensitive Scalp Relaxer by Soft and Beautiful... home system.. people of African and Mediterranean heritage and Latino heritage with coarse hair use this system to straighten the hair... the finer the coarse of hair the shorter the system stays in the hair... follow closely the directions... my personal favorite

I do not recommend using a chemical relaxer on hair that is fragile or breaks. Hair relaxers can cause severe hair breakage and burn the scalp. If you don't want to try the alternative methods and want to use a relaxer, please consult a hairstylist. The hairstylist will examine your hair and discuss with you if a chemical relaxer is suitable for your hair.

I found a hairstraightener at wal-mart for like 40 bucks and it works great you can dry wet hair and it even has a setting for difficult to straighten hair.

I cannot use hair dryers either.. they cause my hair to poof out and makes me look like a troll no matter what I try.

I used to have the same problem as you binx44. I have waist long very wavy (most times curly) frizzy hair. I bought the $32 dollar straightener at WalMart and it works wonders! I love it. So I don't ruin my hair I use the leave in condtioner by Garnier... and I also use the VO5 heat resistance spray stuff (don't know the exact name) both are cheap... and yeah... work great. If you want to stay wavy w/out the friz... Herbel Essences mouse is the best that I have found. I get tons of complements w/ the stuff I use whether its straight or curly. :) hope that helps... o... and yea... don't use chemical straightener. My hair can withstand almost anything I have done to it.. . but even chemical straightener hurt it... and it doesn't stay in very long at all... I think they are made to be more for VERY curly hair. But yea. Wouldn't recommend them at all!

FHI flat iron.the best one I've used ever along with garnier fructis leave in conditioning cream sleek and shine. It gets my hair straight shiny and soft.the flat iron is a bit expensive but its definitely worth the money.ppl always ask me how I do it and that's my secret but what works for my african american hair may not work for u.but who knows.just thought id share that to c if maybe that may work for you.;)
