I really need some questions answered I'm living a really hard life, I need to know more about emancipation? I am 17 years old and I want to get emancipated, I have a boyfrined that is 18 and I'm possibly pregnant. Where do I start with trying to get emancipated? my parents will not approve at all. They slap me a lot and that is the biggest reason I want out of here I need help and answers

You should contact legal aid in your state.

At 17 years old, the chances of getting a legal emancipation done before you turn 18 are pretty slim. It's a long, involved process.

How long until you are 18? Have you called child services for them slapping you? I believe in child discipline but no one deserves to get hit.

Your best bet, at this point, is to talk to a school counselor. If they are physically abusing you, there are laws to protect you. If they feel its appropriate, the school will get your local family services agency involved.

If emancipation is a practical issue, they will help.

While I don't support corporal punishment, why do they slap you a lot? For us to advise you further we need to know more about the situation. We also need to know when you will turn 18 and what area (state) you live in.

What state are you in because not all states allow for emancipation of a minor.

I turn 18 in may... but see I was abopted and my mom found me and she thinks my parents now have changed my birthday. She said I'm supposed to be 18 now.. bc she had me in may of 1991,but my birth ceretific says 1992?? I have not called child services but I used to call the cops because I had brusies but the cop said the parents got to do what they got to do... I would love to live with my birth mom but I don't know the rights I have about talking to them so I don't know do you??

If you found your birth mom, you know the hospital where you were born. Contact them to see if they can confirm your date of birth.

OK we're trying... do I have rights to talk to them at 17 in the state of Alabama.. because my parents now tell me things about them that are not true I haven't told them that I know them I don't know what to say or how they will react.. could my mom,my sister or I get in any trouble by talking to each other??

Depending on the terms of the adoption, it is possible that your mom can get in trouble for contacting you before you turned 18, if, in fact you aren't yet.

But you do have the right to get your birth certificate.

So, I would limit contact with your bio family until you confirm your age.

Are you absolutely certain it is your bio mom? As scott said you can get ahold of the hospital and see if they can confirm your date of birth and of course you can get your birth certificate. However, until you are 18 (according to your birth certificate) you should not contact your bio mom any more because it is possible for her to get into legal trouble.
