We recently moved my in law to another place and her refrigerator to our house. It was moved in the veritical position and left unplugged for 24 hours. I have plugged it in but it is not cooling at all - plugged in for 24+ hours. It was working beautifully before the move! Any suggestions on a fix?

Okay, you moved it in a vertical position. What was the temperature around it when it was being moved? Also, are you sure that the socket into which it's plugged into is working?

Just a couple of thoughts...

I've had a refrigerator quit working when the outside temperature around it got too cold.

I moved a fridge on it's back. Not the best way to go, but it wouldn't fit into the uhaul any other way. Was told to wait 24 hours before plugging it in, which I did. After 48 hours it's not cooling at all.

When I mentioned it to sales person they immediately asked if we "cranked" the temp up. Wasn't warned in advance, and sadly yes, that's what I had done. But only that way for about an hour or so.

Is there anything I can do to get it to work now?

Check the coils and fan under the refrigerator and make sure coils are clean and the fan is free to turn. Take off the rear cover to bottom and check it out. It does not matter if you lay a refrigerator down to move it any more. Refrigerators made before 1940 have some problems sometimes, but not since that time. It's an old wive's tale that has really endured with no evidence to support it. Neither the freon nor the oil will go anywhere when the unit is laid down, you just cannot run it that way. More than likely something under the unit is the problem. DrTom4444
