    Need to enter a memo in QuickBooks!
    Where do I enter this in QuickBooks?

    Is it 'Credit Sales Receipt' or 'Refunds or Credit'?.

    You don't have a sale, you don't have a credit and you don't have a refund. You have a loan. Call it what it is: a loan. You can add that it's for a book purchase if you like, but it's a loan.

    You asked if it was a "credit sales receipt" or "refunds or credits" and I explained that it wasn't those and what it was. I hate to tell you this, but you did ask that. That is what I was answering.

    If everyone gave a negative over something that didn't really get quite answered the way someone would have liked, we'd probably have more neg's than positives - try allowing people a little leeway.
