Other law- did I violate a hippa law
I work in a group home for the disabled in pa recently one of our residents fell and I took her blood pressure on an automatic blood pressure cuff, and it was high, I called a relative to come anf it take it to get a more accurate reading, there was no personal info exchanged and the person was there maybe for 5 minutes, but I did not call me supervisor and now they are saying that I might have violated a hippa law is this the case, as I mentioned before there was no personal info exchanged and the person that came in did ask the individual if she could take her blood pressure and the individual said yes. Did I violate a hippa law?

Hick, why didn't you ask a coworker to confirm the reading? No, I don't think you violated the law.

"They" said it might be a violation.

    Who is "they"?

If I read this right a person who was not employed at the home took the person's blood pressure instead of a supervisor - this would indicate you did not follow policy.

    Why?
