Wide screen monitor distorts pictures, why?
I just bought a 24 inch wide screen monitor. I find text okay, but my pictures are elongated. The widening effect is not right. Pictures of people I know, or my cat, which were shown NORMAL in my previous monitor are now distorted so they look short and fat. Surely this is not meant to be.
No directions came with the monitor to tell me how to correct this. There is a menu button and for engine, auto-set, source, etc. but I have no idea what to do with them. So, is there an adjustment I can make to make pictures NORMAL? Thanks.

Try adjusting your resolution to different settings to see what one may work for your new monitor

    Assuming you are using XP
-right click on desktop and choose properties
    -go to Settings tab
-Use the slider bar under Screen Resolution to change the resolution to a different setting and click Apply
-Try different setting to something acceptable

Hope this will help out, if not, post back with as much info as can

    Comment on seahwk83's post
It fixed the problem but now fonts are far too small. Thanks.
