I have an older Carrier gas furnace. The Intermittent Pilot Ignition Control is short cycling. I ordered a replacement one. However, with everything else now days, the newer one does not match the older one. The older one (p/n 50D49-401) has three brown wires, one red wire, one white wire, one yellow wire, and two blue wires. The new replacement Control (p/n G775 RGA-2) Has the following terminals: #1-P.V. #2-THS, #3-M.V. #4-SENSE, #5-Ground. Does anybody know which wire/wires goes on which terminal? I’ve tried to locate a wiring diagram with no luck. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you are lucky, some of the more experienced people here can tell you what each wire does or at least direct you to a diagram.

While you are waiting, does your furnace have a wiring diagram showing what each does of what I count as 8 wires? Do a number of them connect back to the common side of the transformer? I have had good luck putting part numbers into a search engine and finding information I needed. Might even try separating the 2 part numbers with a +.

I don't know the colors of wires of the top of my head but hear it goes. On the gas valve it should have pv (pilot valve) mv (main valve) and pv/mv common or ground. Sense goes to the little metal rod that sits in front of the pilot. Now it gets a bit tricky. Does the ignitor sense flame or what's called a remote flame sensor. You just have to know what pilot assembly you are looking at to answer, in short, 1 or two wires going to the pilot assembly. THS is the 24 volts from the thermostat to power module to start. Ground can be any chassis ground or mv/pv which should also go to ground. Don't mess up pv and mv it could be quite a hair raising experience.
