    Leaking shower
    Hi everyone

I've got a problem with my shower. Water has started surging out of the bottom of the shower unit (just behind where the tube connects with the unit). There is a plastic see through tube where the water comes through but I don't know why.

Is there an overspill device within the unit (like with cistern of toilet?)

If anyone can help or advise I would appreciate it

    Cheers

    Ed

    Hi Ed,

Would this be a custom tile shower or a manufactured one? Are you saying it comes out the drain ahead of the trap raiser? What do you mean when you say,"There is a plastic see through tube where the water comes through but i don't know why". Please explain farther.

" Is there an overspill device within the unit (like with cistern of toilet?)"
What unit? There is no "overspill device" on a shower installation. Why would you think that there was?
In short your questing is confusing. Could you clarify it? Thanks, Tom

When the shower is turned on instead of the water going through the tube to the shower head the water comes out from a small tube (about 1inch long) at the bottom of the shower unit

It sounds like you have a combination tub/shower valve and that the orifice intended to come down to the tub spout was plugged at the time of installation, and that whatever was used to plug this orifice has failed.

I agree with Growler, I don't know why any one would install a tub/shower valve like that when it would have been so simple to screw a 1/2" brass plug in the tub spout opening and forget it. Just cap off the tube and rub-a-dub under a full stream. Good luck, Tom

I usually sweat a piece of copper into the lower outlet with a cap on it to help support the valve in the wall, but putting a piece of plastic tube in the outlet seems kind of stupid to me.
