    Contrasting shadows
I have a Canon PowerShot SD770 IS camera. While it takes great indoor flash pictures, outside on bright sunny days the pictures come out with shadow areas too dark? Only the shadow parts are too dark, while the rest of the photo is fine. Anyone with a solution to this problem? Thanks, PK

    Hi,
I don't have an answer for you regarding your camera. I do have a solution if you happen to have access to the Photoshop program.

    Scan photo
In the layers palette copy the background
Click convert to smart objects. Access this from the layers palette (shortcut is up arrow, command, N on a Mac)
    Go to the image menu
    Select adjustments
    Then select shadow/highlight

This will balance out the "too dark" shadows in your photos. This tip is also great for pictures that are too dark overall. Good luck! :)
