A Boat and A Quiet Title Action
Background: 4 years ago my ex and I signed over a boat we owned to my mother in payment for a large accumulated amount of personal debts to her. Fast forward 4 years later to the finalization of our divorce where my ex is claiming she wants the boat or compensation for it. The judge has said that since we don't hold title that this is a matter for her to pursue via a Quiet Title Action. My mother has itemized documention of the original loans she made to us along with emails supporting our intent to transfer title and has also made a sworn affidavit stating these facts and right to ownership. The deal between her and us these past years was that we would pay moorage and basic annual maintenance for the boat in exchange for use of the boat which we did until about a year ago.

Question: What chance does my ex-wife have of succeeding in any potential Quiet Title Action here in Washington state and what would she need in order to prove her case?

    Thanks in advance,

    Hello JDS:

She would need both you and your mother to tell a different story, and it doesn't look like you're going to do that.
