I`am at the end of a bad divorce my wife has our health insurance though her job. When the divorce is final will I still be covered under her plan, if so for how long will I be covered. I live in the state of NY. Can someone please help me?

If she paid for the year under a family plan usually until the end of the plan which is a year or until the divorce is final... it depends... on the insurance company... sometimes these things are in place for the protection of children

At your divorce you will have to convert to private insurance. You can do this under the COBRA insurance laws ( federal) that requires them to provide this coverage for a specific amount of time. ( sorry I can't remember how many months it is for, somewhere between a year or two.)

You can probably get the judge to order your wife to continue to provide coverage for you for a specified period. Have your attorney request this as part of the settlement.
