How to add a 2 way cleanout
I want to add a two way cleanout to a 3 inch( steel/cast ?)iron waste line, I think it is called no hub pipe. It will be buried 30 inches +/_ deep near a tree on my lawn ,and the riser terminating about 6 inches below the lawn.. What type of a cleanout do I need? The only type that is readily available to me is ABS plastic With s/s ends from a local hardware store. Should I try to locate a steel one and if so how do I connect to the existing line. Hope I have made myself clear, Thanks for your attention.

If you have 3" cast iron then go buy a 3" No-Hub Two Way Cleanout Tee, (2) 3" no hub clamps,a 5/16th nut driver, then measure from the top of the pipe to the top of the ground and add 2 more feet and get that much 3" pipe. Put the clean outtee on top of the cast iron and make your mark 1/2"longer then the tee. Noe cut out the section of cast iron. cut 1/2" bigger so you don't fight it when putting it together. Put the 3" band on the 1' (both ends) of pvc pipe then the rubber, then fold back the rubber and put in between the cast iron pipe. roll the rubber over the cast iron, slip the band over the rubber and tighten down with the 5/16th nut driver. then measure to the top of the groung and cut the 3"pipe with a 3" clean out on the pipe to the right length so it will be flush with ground. Good luck, Tom
