After Flushing it keeps refilling 3 -4 times
I replaced a flapper in the toilet and now it refills the toilet bowl several times after each flush. What is causing this and how do I fix it?

Does the new flapper valve seat properly?

It appears to. I lengthened the chain to see if it was the problem but it continues to do the same thing. Is there an air seal or something I could check?

    Hi Dixie,

Multiple flushes occur when the flapper allows too much water to be discharged from the tank.
Did you cut the rubber ring off the flapper before you connected the flapper to the hooks on the white overflow tube? If not cut the ring off on the lines and install it again. The flapper linkage,(chain) wants to have 1/4" of play when the flapper's seated and the tank's filled. Good luck, Tom

    Hi Tom,
I checked and I had removed the rubber ring off the flapper. I also adjusted the chain so it would have only the 1/4" amount of play. As I watch it flush it appears to me that the flapper is taking too long to fall to create the seal. It's almost like it is too light weight. I appreciate your help & refuse to let this flapper defeat me, so any other advise you might have would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks again, Dixie

    OK Dixie try this,

Lower the water level in the tank to where it just gets enough water for one flush. Cheers, Tom
