Harbor breeze remote control fan light does not work
My harbor breeze fan light does not work with the remote or wall control. We have replaced the receiver, rehooked it up to all the wires coming from the house but only the fan works. We can control the fan speed. When we press the light button on the wall and remote it flashes red. Please help... we need light!

    Thank you

When you replaced the receiver did you also replace the transmiter? How did you determine it was a bad receiver and not a bad transmiter? Use a test probe to see if you have power inside the lamp socket

Thank you! We changed both the receiver and transmitter.

And you determined the receiver was bad by what method? Try the test probe I mentioned, got power?

OK I have a test probe but my husband is scared for me to use it. I guess we will call an electrician. Thanks for your help.

He's a scaredy cat, scared of hot grease and electricity!

I'm afraid of hot grease but 120 isn't scary.

    Does the fan have pullchains?

No, no pullchains only a reverse switch. The last time we wired it - when we turned the power back on we heard a pop and then the transmitter lit up inside and died. My guess is we fried something because we connected a new transmitter and nothing, the fan doesn't even spin now.

How many wires come from the fan and go to the receiver in the ceiling?

This fan has 1 black wire, 1 red wire and 2 white wires coming FROM the fan

Try removing the receiver, and hook the two white to ceiling white, and the black and red to ceiling black, and when you turn the power back on, tell us if anything works.

My problem is that when I moved to my new house and took my fan/light (which worked fine) with me. Now the spot light won't go off or dim and I can't get the top light to come on at all. All funtions of the fan work (on/off, and different speeds) with the remote.I've checked all the wires several times. At a complete loss.
