I always wanted to build an Electromatic Gun.
My idea is to have 3(or more) sets of coils. Just like a Solenoid and the plunger.
I figured a Magnet at the back of the barrel to hold in place, then a precised timed pulse to provide maximum velocity, too short and maximum velocity won't be achieved and too long will hang on to the projectile. Then have second coil energize to pull forward and increase speed, releasing before hang, then the third coil. Second and third or more could be fired by timing or photodectors?
