Instrument panel started smoking circet board, [don't know why] took out hole panel,truck will run without panel in but now I have no instruments and truck seams to be running off battery power not altinator. Altinator is putting out power but doesn't seem to be running truck.

Oh I do love a Ford F150 they keep on no matter what don't they? I would suggest that you find a hands on mechanic that loves Ford F150's. Your wiring harness may be toast and it's not good to drive with less than the equipment you are suppose to have. If you have a local salvage yard, try them for replacements. Sometimes they also know a lot about the vehicles. The one we had, had more primer. Bondo and rust than body and it was a once a month replacement part thingy too :) good luck
