    Average speed of marathon runner
    I was given a problem to find the average speed of the olympic marathon record. Here is the question.

    The Olympic marathon record is 2h, 2min, 80 s. The distance is 26 miles, 365 yards. Determine the average speed in mph.

    Distance = Velocity x Time.

    You are given the distance (26 miles, 365 yards) you have the time. Convert the hours, minutes, and seconds to hours (use fractions). Convert the miles & yards into miles only (use fractions). Solve for the velocity. Since your time is in hours and your distance is in miles, your resulting velocity will be in miles / hour (mph).

    Had to spread the love, but this is pretty much a perfect answer.
