I have a push mower that only stays running when the primer bulb is pushed in. When I let go of the bulb, it quits running. Does this mean there is a hole in the primer bulb. When I hold the primer bulb in it runs like it would normally. Any suggestions?? :confused:

You need to clean the carb.. take it off, get a rebuild kit for it, tear it apart and soak it in carb cleaner for a few hours, then blow all holes out with compressed air.

Although not the right one for your mower the primer here would prob be usable. It has two tubes sticking out the back that the fuel pipe and carb feed pipe push over, it just snaps into place with two plastic clips or would still work freestanding. I reckon you do have a hole in yours so with it pressed fuel gets sucked through and with it released air gets sucked through, if the engine runs OK whilst it's held in then the carb is prob OK.

Would help a lot to know the brand.. but most primer bulbs will have a hole in them (finger seals it) to quickly release... if it has a hole where it shouldn't be, it'll tell you by leaking gas from that hole.

Holding the primer bulb tells me you have a clog, mainly the tiny hole where the float bowl nut goes. Btw... that primer bulb you list what is for a trimmer? Push mowers the primer bulb can't be used unless it is fully sealed to the carb (say like some briggs classics, the primer bulb snaps onto the carb at the side)
