Why does a 10 year old hit parents and brothers?
I have a 10 year old great-nephew who has been hitting his parents and brothers in the face. What triggers this behavior in children?

Lack of parenting skills in the parents.

I think the child is angry. There must be an underlying problem with this child and/or family. For some reason that is the only way this boy knows how to let out all his anger. It is hard to say whether it is the parents, or someone or something else that has made the child feel this way. Sometimes it is for attention.

A lot of times it is the lack of parenting skill, but not in all cases. It isn't good to just assume that is all it is.

    You should suggest two things.

First, there's a book by Dr Kevin Leman called " Have a new kid by Friday", Maybe you could get it for them as a present. It is a great book. All of his books are.

Second, tell them about the woodshed.

And how behavior magically changes behind it.
