I changed the transmission in 97 ford taurus 3.0 efi .
The engine races like the accelerator is to the floor and my tachometer isn't working
Any suggestions on what to check would be appreciated

. Check for codes.

. Check/replace the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS).

. Take apart the dash and get your hand behind the instrument cluster and firmly push in on the connections. If the tachometer continues to not work, replace the instrument cluster.
