    Theft over 5000
Heý I live in ontario and am 23 yrs old, this will be my first offence but I have not yet been questioned or charged as they are still investigating. What should I do if I get brought into the police station? Also what will happen to me if they find out I did this?

I am assuming this is some kind of fraud, otherwise they would not be investigating. As you don't explain entirely, no way to say what will happen. Would you care to give more detail ?

The words "if they find out I did this" lead me to conclude that you did "this."

Get the best Attorney you can afford. This is no small matter.

Theft over $5,000 is treated seriously in Canada - the Police and prosecutor are not going to care what you spent the money on, why you stole it.

You need to get an Attorney NOW before you are hauled in for questioning.

I don't know the circumstances, of course, but if it's theft from an employer it is even more serious.

And, yes, certainly you can go to jail for this if found guilty.

The family member is a witness - The People pursue the charges.

Again, without more info this is simply a guess but now that the Police are in on things I don't believe the family member will be given the choice to pursue or not pursue.
