    Transmission issues
I have a Craftsman Lawn Tractor that recently started jerking in several of the gears. Took it to an equipment repair shop, they said it was the transaxle and would need to be replaced. Couldn't afford for them to replace it so I did it myself. Everything went back together just fine, but the tractor does not operate any better and even will not shift into all the gears. Are there any linkage issues or other adjustments to the shifting that I may need to be looking for?

    Hi,
Some have adjustments on the shift linkage. Have (did) you check the belt and idlers? Also, how about the front stay thea keeps the transaxle from trying to twist?
Numbers always help so that I can look up the model breakdown.
    Peace,
    Clarke

    Thanks for your response Crigby.
I have made adjustments to linkage with no change and checked the belt. The model number of the tractor is #917.272075.

    Hi,
I have seen the center of the transaxle sheave have the rivets snap on a few and then rotate and catch repeatedly on a few that had the halves sandwiched together. It was not easy to detect until the rivets smoothed out enough not to ever grip.
    Peace,
    Clarke
