Hello. I am having some major problems trying to swap out the valve assembly for the water feed to the toilet line. This was originally an all-in-one assembly where the connector line to the toilet was connected to the valve assembly. The line portion (metal) had a crack in it and therefore leaked. I purchased a regular valve assembly which is threaded on to the water feed pipe. I have been trying to remove the other one and all it does is turn but will not come off. Please let me know what could be causing this or is this not a thread off type assembly (i.e. sweated on). Thanks.:confused:

Sounds like your present valve is a compression fit. It is not screwed on. Hold the nut that is around the pipe with one wrench and turn the valve with another. Replace with a compression fit stop valve.

Thanks Harold. That was the culprit. Now I can't get the line to drip from the connection to the toilet. If I tighten it too much, it drips a lot and if I loosen it, it still drips. The hardware store thinks it's the actual toilet stem that the line connects to. I'm not sure how to troubleshoot that other than take it off and try to reseal it in case the seal has been broken by tightening and loosening the connection of the line to the stem. Any suggestions?

Are you using the flexible supply lines or the hard chrome tubing.

Harold. I fixed it. Your response the first time fixed the valve taking off issue. The second issue was the actual assembly in the toilet. It appears that something went wrong with the seal as once I changed it out with a new one, it works just fine. I want to thank you for your time and your responses. Have a great day.

Harold. It's fixed. Thanks to your suggestion initially, taking the old valve off was a breeze. The dripping issue was corrected by swapping out the innards of the toilet with a new one. It appears that it must have developed a seal problem after trying to take the old one off. Oh well. I want to thank you for your time and your quick and informative response.
