Im starting my importing business (importing handicraft native product), which department of a company will I contact to introduce my product, is it better to write or call them first? What are great pointers I have to mention to entice them to see my products? Is there a database or list of companies who are selling similar products?

If it were me, I would try to contact the owner of the company. If the company was local, then I would try to stop in personally to speak with the owner. If a secretary directed me to speak with someone else, then I would do that. The name of the department will vary. Calling the company to find out who to speak with or contact is probably the best thing to do.
