Abscess where anitbiotics are not working
Hi... am at my wits end with pain... visited dentist 2days ago... was told I have an infection under my capped tooth where I had root treatment 16 years ago... have taken anitbiotics and numerous pain killers for 2 full days now and have had no relief whatsoever... can anyone offer advice please?:(

You may not get any relief for another day or so from the antibiotics. If you can take these: alternate ES Tylenol and ES Ibuprofen every 2 hours. You should get some relief within the next 6-8 hours. If not, call the dentist or visit the emergency room.

You need to get the source of the problem fixed, re-do the root canal or extract the tooth... antibiotics are only a helping hand for the main issue.. plus, antibiotics take at least 2-3 days to kick in so hang in there with the pain killers, and get an appointment ASAP to get the tooth dealt with!
