Craftsman TL1000 Mower deck Lift Link broken
The mowing deck was sitting at an angle and I found the left Lift Link rod broken. It appears to be very difficult to get to the connect point and replace it without removing a few panels and even the steering wheel. Please tell me I'm wrong. I'd rather not call out a Sears repairman and start the bill with a $99 call out fee. Is there an easier way to replace this part? Thanks!

    Hi,
First I gather it is an LT1000, and I would need the 9 digit model number from under the seat.
    Peace,
    Clarke

    Hi,
I thought you had typod again until that 10 digit model number came up. If you do not have the manual, get it at:
    http://www.managemyhome.com/mmh/lis_...M/L0203168.pdf
As I will use it. Two pages are referenced; the deck page 46 and the lift page 43.
Remove deck by lowering it all the way, disconnecting #5 clip and #152 spring on cable on page 46. Disconnect clips #20 at front of deck (best to lay arms in such a way as to put them back the in the same place) and clips #13 and disconnect arms from pins. Raise lift all the way, turn steering all the way to right and slide deck out the left.
Once the deck is out all the way, lower lift all the way to access clip #13 at the top of left lift link #11 (part #139865) and remove and replace. Nut #32 and washer #31 must be fastened through left arm.
Use reverse order to install (raise lift before sliding in deck.) Deck will need to be levelled side-to-side.
    Peace,
    Clarke

Thanks for the help. I found access to the area where the Lift Link is connected after removing the mower deck. Not easy but there are some access holes to get my fingers up into. One change however, I found it easier to slide the deck out the right side due to the raise bar on the left hanging down and getting caught on the deck as I slid it out. Thanks for the advice and saving me about $150. The Lift Link part was $12.95
