Some sad news in Hollywood, Patrick Swayze has died of pancreatic cancer at 57.
I am saddened to hear that news. He fought so hard even knowing the outcome of his disease. What a wonderful actor he was !
Tick
I enjoyed his work. He made his fortune with Road House but I really liked his early work, such as Red Dawn.
OMG! I haven't heard a word of it on TV.
What a loss. This saddens me much more the MJ.
Patrick did wonderful work, I'm so very sorry for his family and the rest of the world.
I too am saddened by the loss of Patrick Swayze. He fought the good fight and lasted much longer than expected.
Death seems to come in lots of 3. Let's pray that his death is not overshadowed as was Farrah's.
Everyone knew it was coming but it doesn't make it any less sad.
R.I.P Patrick Swayze.
Patrick Swayze, 57; 'Dirty Dancing,' 'Ghost' Highlighted Film Career - washingtonpost.comQuote:
While undergoing chemotherapy for his cancer, which was diagnosed last year, he received good reviews for his gritty portrayal of an undercover FBI agent in “The Beast” (2009), a drama series for the A&E cable network. Mr. Swayze missed only one day of work while filming the series. “One thing I'm not going to do is chase staying alive,” he told interviewer Barbara Walters at the time. “You spend so much time chasing staying alive, you won't live.”
WOLVERINES!
A class act, he will be missed.
Sad to think that he and Farley are gone. Man, that skit on SNL had me rolling.
G&P
Red Dawn is a personal favorite of mine too... what could be better than a movie about guys in Middle America with their guns fighting commies?
And Road House is another favorite... a martial artist bar bouncer... booze and brawlin'.
But let's not forget Dirty Dancing and Ghost. THOSE films are where he made his fortune, not Road House and Red Dawn.
Elliot
You're right, Elliot. I guess I have to admit to a personal bias. I liked Point Break too.
There's also the North & South mini series... where he plays the southern soldier and family leader in the Civil War.
And Youngblood, where he plays a roughneck hockey player.
He did a lot of good stuff.
He'll be missed.
What I will truly miss is a movie star that meant their wedding vows. 34 years together is more impressive than a shelf full of Oscars.
Yes, his wife was considerably older then he, I was thinking about that today. Years ago I watched his bio and it said she taught him a lot of the dance moves. She was formerly a ballerina. She actually had him coached as a ballerina. I thought he was just wonderful and handsome. I was watching him on 'etalk' special when I got home, he was with his wife. I still can't remember her name, but they were so fond of each other.
Sad tick
Wow, I never knew that he was such a good singer, he was very talented.
Kuddos to Coppola for recognizing the talent of the group of young actors in the movie.
