    Dating Law
Hi I'm over 18 and I'm wating on a girl to turn 18, we live 20 hours apart. I don't go see her or I can't be with her, What I want to know is can I get in trouble for just talking to her on the phone or internet? He dad wants to try to get me put in jail for nothing because he doesn't like me. Is there anything he can do to me?

She is under legal age and her father is in control. He can get a restraining order against you on her behalf and if you continue to contact her, yes, he can have you arrested and prosecuted.

Why doesn't he like you? He must give some reason - ?

Judy is correct, but first he has to get the restraining order and then you have to violate it. It will not be easier to get such an order unless he can prove you are a danger to his daughter.

There are no laws governing an age gap when dating. The laws refer to having sexual contact with a minor under the age of consent.

Please don't post the same question in multiple places, your other thread has been removed.

As I said, you can't go to jail for talking on the phone unless a court order exists telling you that you can't.
