    Tenancy agreements
Can my daughter stay in my council property when I die?I've read that I can pass the tenancy on to my daughter but when I wrote to my council asking them to add my 19yr old daughter to my tenancy they said its not allowed! So where does that leave my daughter when I'm gone?

Consult an Attorney - make this provision in your Will.

This is a real estate question and I have asked that it be moved.

Besides getting an attorney you need a copy of the councils bylaws and rules and regs. You are renting from what I gather and have a lease, right?

I assume you are in the UK. Council rules are different from the US tenancy laws. I think you find this site useful:

The council is probably correct that you can't add your daughter as a current tenant. But if you die and she is your heir, then she should be able to have the tenancy transferred to her.
