I own a Maytag dryer that is 27 years old. The heating element comes on and initially I see "fire". Then the heating element comes on but nothing else happens. I think the model number is LDG309 and it's a gas dryer. HELP!

Fire! 27 yrs old! I am seeing a new dryer at your home soon ! Avg life expectancy of a dryer is about 12 yrs, you are overdue for a new one.
Ive never worked on a gas dryer, but if it works like any other gas appliance, Id say it should have a flame sensor on it. It check that, clean/replace as nessesary.
Some of the gas ovens I work on have an electronic ignition, a probe must detect a flame otherwise it will go back out and flash a "no ignition" light.
I fixed the trouble with the Maytag! I had to replace the coils for $45. Works like a charm! 27 years old and still drying clothes.Quote:
