    Fire Fighting For Oil Facilities
Where can I find information on installing UV/heat detectors on a fixed roof tank storing crude oil.
In a desert environment, where there is no fire water available, how do we fight a tank fire . If we have to go for some containerised units, can you suggest some vendors.

I worked at Ansul Fire Protection in Marinette, Wis. They designed detection and suppression equipment for just that purpose.

Flammable liquid fires are fought using AFFF (Acquious Film Forming Foam) suppressants sprayed onto a contained fire. A spreading fire, can be fought using dry chemicals applied by a fire fighter using a hose. Water is rarely used as it just pushes the flammable liquid around.

They also design and install automatic detection and suppression gear. Contact local Ansul distributor.
