It's a movie in which either a father or a mother lives in a small town, always talking good about their child's accomplishments in life etc. Through out the movie we never get to see the child and in the end it turns out to be that there's no child, the dad or the mom was just a psycho!

I watched it like few years ago but can't think of the name, please help!

Could be the plot of the movie called The Night Listener. In this movie, an abused kid writes a tell all book about his past abuse. Everyone in town raves about the kid. He even call a radio celeb and strikes up a friendship. But something is wrong. The kid's new adopted mother never lets anyone see him. Turns out, that the kid doesn't exist. His adopted Mom is crazy, she made him up for the attention. This movie is actually based on a true story.
