I'm trying to find the title and author of a book I read several years ago. It was published in the 70s or 80s and I think the name of the book was The Brahmans (or something like that). I remember that the author was female but I can't remember her name. The book was historical fiction about a family that comes to Boston from England in the 17th century and starts a shipping company. The novel chronicles several generations of the family incorporating the American history of the time. Any ideas?
