    Car insurance
My step father was a co-signor for a car I purchased. Later on I was in a car accident and the police told me I was not an insured driver of my vehicle. According to my step dad who was handling the insurance said the car was insured. If the car is insured and the car is in my name shouldn't I be covered? I am about to get sued for 100k... please help

Who purchased the auto insurance? Did you purchase this or did he purchase the insurance? You need to contact your insurance agent and ask them this question. They will be able to see just who is insured under the car's policy.

A co-signer is just that, they merely sign for the loan, if you were the buyer, it is your responsibility not someone else to buy insurance.

If you have insurance, it is not them telling you, but you have an insurance card and you will also be able to call your agent and verify coverage.
