    My bathroom hot water pipe
Hello, I was just wondering about my hot water in the pipes in the upstairs bath tub. My problem is is that the hot water comes out of the pipe really low but the cold water gushes out. I checked the spout and took it off but the hot water is still coming out slow. What could be the problem? Anyone have an idea? Thank!

Why would the cold gush out and not the hot?

I took off the spout and turned the hot water back on so it was coming out of the pipe. It's a one handle you pull it out and turn it to hot or cold.

Could be a problem in the cartridge, but not likely. Now,, this is very important,, do you notice any difference at all between the hot and cold pressure in all other fixtures of the house? If you do, you most likely have plugged dielectric unions on the water heater, this would cause hot water pressure(actaully volume) to be lower than cold water. Please answer this question and we will try to help you out. Lee.

The tub spout has nothing to do with hot or cold flow, the hot and cold water is coming out from the faucet to the tub spout, if you have hot water flow the problem is inside your faucet there may be debris stuck inside the hot port, you need to remove the handle and remove the cartridge.

To remove the cartridge shut off the water to tub, remove the handle and the cartridge, turn on the water for a few seconds to flush out all the debris out of the faucet, install the cartridge and the handle and check if it is OK, if not come back and we will tell you what the next step, Thanks is.

No I don't have a problem anywhere else in the house. Just in the one bath tub.

Could it be just the hot water pipe?

Sounds like a moen. I suggest pulling the cartridge and replacing with a new one.

Yes Bob post #7 not #8 now we are even.

    Hi Stephanie,

Please read Mygirlsdad post #8 and check the other fixtures

If hot water in all other fixtures are OK, I agree with MGD the problem is with your cartridge or debris inside your faucet, you need to remove it and try to flush out debris from the faucet if that would not help, you need to replace it, and you can get a new one from Moen for free, Thanks.
