Mesh or Rebar in Concrete - Which is better
At somepoint I am going to have to replace my concrete patio (long story!). Concrete contractors have proposed 6/6/10/10 welded wire reinforcement and 1/2 inch rebar. Each suggests one is better than the other. It will be 3000 psi cretet and 4 " thick. What do people here suggest between the two options of wire and rebar.

We need to wait for out concrete person to show up, but I would think that since it's not structural, rebar isn't needed.

I agree, mesh should be just fine for a pad. I suspect both contractors know what they are doing and just have their preferences. Pick one and he decides how he is doing it.

If mesh is used properly, it should work. Not the thinner stuff. A good gauge, but nothing to heavy is required.

BUT, I see that one will use "welded wire" which brings me believe there might be a reason for the suggested materials. Ask each contractor why they suggest the materials the do. I cannot see the situation.
