    Brick chemney
Hi there, can anyone tell me the correct way to remove an exterior brick chemney.

One brick at a time starting on the very top. There is no rocket science approach to this task. Start by knocking the cap off in pieces, we usually just drop the debris down the chimney unless this would cause too much dust and junk in the home.

Ballenger - ever so practical. (smile)

Hey, removal of your chimeny may be a bit more complicated. If my memory serves me, your home's structural support is may be dependent on it somewhat.

I hope not that would be a first.. Never saw that in 30 years of building them.
A fireplace hearth is the only integral part that In the structurer other then a crock through a wall. The fireplace has its own foundation system

You are correct of course boat, but what about the walls inside that connect to that point, and when you get to floor level, some foundation and framing may need to be considered.

As ballenger said, from the top down - brick by brick - but look hard at the structure around it and at, beneath floor level.

I add this because I often see people do a project with taking into consideration those details and do not prepare for it.

Sigh, I can't stop thinking into the next step. Sorry
