Ask Me Help Desk - Create a recovery partition

Hi, I had a ghost program... early version, can't remember which one... anyways.. I created a back up recovery disc... where as when you reboot your system ghost would install your back the way you have set it.. My question is.. how do I go about recovery from the partioned hd?. eg select recovery program and it reboots your system to windows and a prompt to execute back up. And reinstalls your back up the way you set it up.

I'm a wee bit confused over this. My Ghost came with some recovery tools (on the install CD), but that isn't the same thing as restoring the images you create with it. By saying that it "reinstalls you back up the way you set it up" makes me wonder if you're referring to an image you did. That's the point of Ghost, is to make images.

You can restore it right from within Ghost itself. There's a restore drive in the commands. But I'm not sure if that's what you mean, and I don't know how different your version may be from mine.

Hi there , thanks for your response. I don't have a ghost program, like a cd or something. It was an setup.exe I d/l . So then I had to extract certain files from my start up disk. Make an image of my c:/ drive and add the ghost.exe to the start up disk. So then when you reboot from the floppy.. ( yes it was that old).. lol, It would reboot to the dos window and ghost then takes over. Now in this day an age you can make a recovery from within windows. So when you partion your hdd the recovery program would be in the c:/ drive and it would restore your system to your specification. Does that make any sense.
