Fake Facebook page or my space
Supposing somebody creates a fake my space or Facebook page?

Yes, people, or more likely bots, do it all the time.

Most of the time, it's for a scam.

    What about it?

People make them all the time:
-to check up on spouses, exes or the person they are interested in dating. Kind of creepy but hey you do what you want to...
    -to spam people
-For BAD things such as; a pedophile pretending to be a younger person and adding other young people, a serial rapist pretending to be a new woman in town in order to meet other woman and cause harm. There are many other horrible things that people can do..
-A celebrity may have an alias to protect themselves from being attacked by millions of fans
-To promote a business. You may have "Dale's Car Mechanics" and make fan groups, events, etc.

Facebook is a social networking site, like many other social networking site it can be used for good OR bad.

Basically a fake person... it's a computer program created to usually generate spam mail and such (annoying advertising usually)

I used to frequent trivia chat rooms and there would be bots all the time posting addresses to porn sites etc.

In those trivia rooms there was a also a 'person' in the room posting the questions.. this wasn't a real person but a "program" that someone has put questions into... that is also known as a bot.

Yet another example is in computer games... if you have every played a first person shooter game where you are running around shooting other players that are really the computer... they are also known as bots.

I wonder why people sometimes create profile pages for fictional characters or deceased celebrities? They obviously can't fool anyone in those cases.
