I want to start acting, what do I do?
    I live in Buffalo, Ny
And I want to start acting
    My mom is encouraging me
And she is getting me vocal lessons
    And such
But Should I start looking for minor Auditions now?
    Or wait?
I have been serious about this for 2 years now
    And my mom knows it.
Is it best we move out to California
    Or wait?
    :]

Firstly, you should try and join any school activities that involves drama. When you definetely think you are ready, you may search up stuff like actor agencies and auditions. Please understand that it is very hard work and you must be willing to travel to other countries for some films. Being an actor/actress takes a lot of determination. This will take time, so don't expect to get a part right away. I wish you the best of luck :)

    Hello I:

You won't get auditions WITHOUT an agent. Plus, there IS work in your local area, so you don't need to move. The first thing you need is an agent. Then you're going to need a portfolio of photos and you're going to need some on camera training... Or, if you're a stage actor, you're going to need some live theater training...

It really isn't a matter of talent, although that helps... It's a matter of honing the skills of acting and learning the craft, and then knowing how to get work. There's a lot really talented actors out there who have NO idea how to get work...

When you're looking for an agent, try to find one who can train you, get your pictures taken and then get you work.

    Hi, ipod_geru!

At your age, I would suggest looking for opportunities in school, in community theaters and also dinner theaters in your community or communities that might be near to you. Most likely, community theaters and dinner theaters don't care if you have an agent or not or even if you're a part of some kind of agency. Frequently, they'll post opportunities for auditions in the local media and/or online.

As you gain experience at the local level, then you should consider getting an agent.

I've been in around 50 musical theater productions, either on stage as an actor on in the orchestra pit as a musician. This has been for all types of theaters, including professional.

Even some of the local, community theaters might even pay the actors.

If you're going to get serious about acting, I would also suggest that you take dance lessons to broaden out your possibilities as to what you might do concerning acting, because frequently, shows that are put on will also require the actors to be able to dance in a number of different styles.

Thanks and all the best to you!
