The black wire from the switch and the black wire from one light have been attached to the red live wire. When the white wire from the switch and the white wire coming from the common white wire bundle in the junction box are connected and the breaker is turned on it trips the breaker.

The white may be used as a Hot for a switch loop, and also connected to the neutrals, if a switch loop that white shoud be hot at all times, and the black from the switch goes to the lights hot.

Do I hook the white from the fixture to the white from the switch and the black from the fixture to the two black house wires and the red hot wire? Does the white common hook to anything?

Why not just tell us what wires you have in the ceiling and what wires you have at the switch and we will tell you how to connect.

The red wire comes from a bundle of red wires, the white wire comes from a bundle of white wires then one black wire comes from the other light fixture the other black wire comes from the switch then the other white wire comes from the switch.

I am assuming that there is also a bundle of black wires. I am also assuming that you are in USA. Connect the white wire of the fixture to the bundle of white wires. Connect the white wire from the switch to the red wire. Connect the black wire from the switch to the black wire of the fixture and to the black wire going to the other light. I am also assuming that you want both lights to be controlled by the switch.
