How do you keep mice from setting up house in vehicles that have to be parked and covered outdoors over the winter?

Most of the big box hardware stores now sell mouse bait in a containerized bait station that will allow the mouse to feed without getting poison all over the car. One in the engine compartment, one in the passenger compartment and one in the trunk should do it.
