Error Message " The requested lookup key was not found in any active activation conte
Hello,
First to briefly tell you what is going on, I run Windows xp and IE6, I had a virus so Spyhunter told me it was in the core of the system and had to do system repair.
Downhill from there basically. I have done tried doing updates etc. but always keep getting the message "The requested lookup key was not found in any active activation context"
I have worked on this for 15 hours and I believe I have discovered it is a problem in the IE6 which hopefully if I can correct that I will fix other small problems I am having.
I read posts on here from Cabboni and did what he said to try and repair the IE6 but that is not working for me. It calls for the Windows XP service pack 2 CD which I THINK I have, but not sure if it is the right one.
I have the one that says it is the Windows XP Operating system the one you do the repair with for windows media edition. Is that the one I use? If so, I tried and it could not locate the i.exe files it needed or something but I was not able to repair it.
Also I tried doing the sf /scannow and that did not work. I feel for sure the problem is in the IE6 but I cannot go onto Microsofts site and dowload anything because I keep getting the message stated above.
Can you tell me if I should and how to unistall the IE6 and then can I install it again or as someone else said they installed Firefox and then installed IE8, but if so can you please tell me how to install the Firefox and will I be able to since I get this message all the time?!
Thank you in advance for any help anyone can give. Nightmare! :-(
