    Electric hot water heater permit.
The code calls for a permit to replace an electric hot water heater. I can see why. But in actuality what percent of plumbers bother to get one and how do plumbing inspectors feel about it.

    Thanks

A licensed plumber will pull the permit to stay on the right side of the building inspector, a handyman might not. We usually do not care because you pay for the permit not the installer. In some locales this is simply a money maker for the city, like a fee.

I agree with Ballangerb1. If we pull permit in my area for WH installation, we just call in the completed job or send in Job Completion notification via Internet. Inspector never shows up anyway to inspect the job. As long as permit is paid and City has its money, all "..is fine..." with Inspector.
