It would help if you were bonded for this. It is nice to prove to your clients that you have no previous convictions for theft, fraud, etc. One good tip we learned in homecare was if we saw money or wallet laying out in the open, sometimes happened, we were to bring it to the clients attention immediately and get it out of the way. I think you will see the point in this tip.

    Hi, dglassford!

In general, no, you don't have to be bonded. Being bonded for that sort of work, is generally not a requirement from the legal standpoint. Being bonded might make you look better for advertisement purposes, though.

In over thirty years in working in people's homes, I've only been asked once if I was bonded. My response was that it wasn't a requirement in the state where I work. | There was no problerm with that client after I told them that.

If you don't really need to be bonded for what you do for people, then it is an expense that you can avoid, because most people aren't going to require you to be bonded in order for you to do cleaning for them.

You are going to need liability insurance, though. Your insurance provider can guide you in what you need to do concerning that.

    Thanks!

Agreed, bonding is usually only necessary when the client states that it is required up front.
