I'm a student from Bulgaria,and Im in US with J1 visa.It turnes out that I can't extend this kind of visa,but I need to stay longer,so Ill have to aply for B12.Can anybody tell me what's the exact procedure to aply for this king of visa?
My J1 will be over in October,so the question is kind of urgent...

There is no B12 visa... guess you are talking about B-1/B-2.

If the 2 years rule apply to your J-1, you are not qualified to apply for change of status.

If there is no 2 years rule, file I-539. You need to file this form 60-90 days before I-94 expires.
