Bird Training & Bird toys business. How to start?
I used to work at an Animal Hospital for 3 Years, and I got into bird training. I got really well at it and I love it! I've trained my bird to wave, fetch, and do a lot of other complex tricks. I've also helped my friend with her Bird's behavioral problems. I really want to do this more, but I'm not sure how to get clients? I'm no longer working at the animal hospital because I've gone back to school full time, and I've wanted to do this on the side..

I also really like making bird toys. I've bought parts from other people and made them myself.. How would I go about getting the bird toy parts directly from the manufacturers? Ive have an idea about having a "bird business" one day.. Training birds and selling bird food, and accessories.

I just don't know where to start.

Just a thought here but I know working with birds can be difficult and it sounds like you're not only good at it but love it. You know how Petsmart has those classes for new puppy owners? What about talking to them or other large pet stores about a class that's similar and seeing if you could do that there or maybe at a community center or such. You could obviously put flyers out there and at school and in public libraries and such.

Sounds like a fun and much needed idea for bird owners to bond with their new friends and I wish you lots of luck! :)

P.S. You could even offer private sessions for a little more money.

Thanks a lot! I'm going to look into that and give it a try. I am kind of intimidated though. I'm pretty soft spoken, and it would be a new thing for me to hold a bird training seminar. It would be fun though! I'm definitely going to look into it.

Go to bird club meetings in your area. You don't need to bring a bird. There you will meet people who can help you with information and common interests.
